Description

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria (right), Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga (center), and Rangwe MP Dr. Lilian Gogo share a joke at the Odienya SDA Church in Rangwe Constituency. During the fundraiser on Saturday, April 14, 2018, Kuria made a historic visit to the opposition stronghold, marking his first major public appearance in Nyanza following the famous “Handshake” between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga. Addressing the congregants, Kuria announced that he would spearhead national reconciliation tours, stating that political competition should no longer breed enmity. He revealed that during a private meeting with Mr. Odinga, they agreed that the peace process must be “devolved” from the leadership to the grassroots level. Kuria invited NASA leaders to reciprocate the gesture by visiting Central Kenya and the Rift Valley to preach unity. Despite the warm reception from local MPs, the visit drew sharp criticism from figures like Miguna Miguna, who termed the outreach hypocritical. The event was seen as a symbolic turning point in reducing the political temperature in the country. April 14, 2018.
