November 14, 1995: President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi says Kenya is through with Nigeria’s strongman Sani Abacha following last week’s execution of activist, writer Ken Saro Wiwa and eight others. The hangings which sparked a worldwide firestorm greatly shocked and horrified the Commonwealth Heads of State and government who were gathered in Auckland for their biennial summit. President Moi was speaking at Jomo Kenyatta International airport soon after returning from an eight-day trip which included a state visit to Singapore. “Even if you are my friend but turn out to be a killer, you are no longer by friend.” Moi said. Here, President Moi is tickled by Minister in the office of the President Mr. Jackson Itirithia Kalweo when he arrived from the commonwealth meeting in November 1995.
