September 25, 2003: Mr. Moody Awori is named the new Vice-President, sworn in as ninth vice-president and take office with three promises to Kenyans. He said he would work hard to bring unity in the ruling coalition by advocating dialogue and not confrontational helping President Mwai Kibaki in fighting against corruption and play his role in efforts aimed at revival of the economy. The home Affairs minister was named Vice-President to replace Mr. Michael Kijana Wamalwa who died in London in August 2003. At the same time, President Kibaki also promoted Webuye MP Musikari Kombo to full Cabinet minister giving him the Regional Development ministry.
