Higher Education Minister Margaret Kamar addresses teachers and students of Kisumu Polytechnic after officially opening three new buildings on Saturday, November 19, 2011. She announced that existing polytechnics in Kisumu and Eldoret will soon be upgraded to technical universities, rather than becoming constituent colleges of existing universities, as has been the trend with other middle-level colleges in the country.
