August 30, 1971: Kanu Governing Council debates and adopts the report of the Kenya’s ruling party Re-organization Committee at a meeting at State House, Mombasa. According to the report, Kanu, would undergo a far-reaching organizational shake-up aimed at reactivating and revitalizing it. Here, President Jomo Kenyatta leads wananchi in singing “Kanu Yajenga Nchi” after being entertained by traditional dancers and choirs from Kilifi District at State House Mombasa, on May 9, 1977.
