Description

Minister of Tourism Najib Balala with his Jamaican counterpart Edmund Bartlett (R) during the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries for Sh10 million for the Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre at the Tourism Recovery Summit at the Villa Rosa Kempinski on July 16, 2021. As part of this summit, the Nairobi Declaration, overseen by fifteen African ministers of tourism, emphasized the urgent need for vaccinations across the continent for frontline workers in the tourism sector as a first step in the recovery process following the Covid-19 Pandemic that disrupted tourism and aviation sectors. The declaration also called for the domestication of Africa and connectivity through budget airlines. Kenya lost 1.5million direct jobs in the industry since the pandemic and received 300,000 visitors from January-June 2021. June 16, 2021
