Description

Kenya’s development depends heavily on skilled craftsmen and technicians, Mr. J. K. Njoroge, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, said in Nairobi while addressing graduates at Kenya Polytechnic. Speaking during the presentation of final certificates to successful students from the first general building technicians and institutional management courses, Mr. Njoroge emphasized the need to tailor all levels of training to national development priorities. He noted that while university graduates were essential for design and planning, practical progress ultimately relied on artisans and technicians who implemented those plans. He urged Kenyans not to undervalue skilled workers, warning that while administrators might become plentiful, sustainable development would continue to depend on reliable craftsmen.
