August 23, 2003: Vice-President Michael Kijana Wamalwa (Inset) dies in a London hospital at the age of 60. Mr Wamalwa had served for only eight months in the first five-year term of the President Mwai Kibaki administration. A gifted orator with an enviable command of English, he had also been Saboti MP and Ford-Kenya party chairman.
