December 16, 1963: Kenya becomes 113th member of The United Nations a few days after attaining independence after the Security Council recommended the country’s admission and the General Assembly approved the draft resolution for its admission. Here, Mr. Oginga Odinga, Kenya’s Minister for Home Affairs, addresses the General Assembly shortly after the country’s admission to the world body at the United Nations, New York.
