Description

March 23, 1983: The High Court discharges Mr. Raila Amolo Odinga, a son of former Vice-President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, and a former ‘Sunday Standard’ assistant managing editor, Mr. Otieno Mak ’Onyango, on charges of plotting to overthrow the government of President Daniel Arap Moi on August 1, 1982. They duo was, however, rearrested immediately. Here, Raila (right) is greeted by his father in 1988 after being released from detention.
