Description

July 8, 2002: Opposition bloc agrees on name and poll rules. The National Alliance for Change was turned into a political party ahead of the General Election. The meeting, attended by Party leaders Mwai Kibaki and Michael Wamalwa among other 40 politicians at the Aberdares Country Club, Nyeri, drew up election nomination rules and regulations for the party’s electoral board. To be called the National Alliance Party of Kenya, the new group would field candidates from member parties under the Alliance umbrella in the election.
